What is titanium and its properties?
Titanium is the ninth most abundant element in the Earth's crust.
It is a lightweight metal with a white-silver metallic color. It is hard and resistant to corrosion. Pure titanium is insoluble in water but soluble in strong acids. Titanium forms a protective oxide layer (making it corrosion-resistant) when exposed to high temperatures in air, but at room temperature, it is resistant to oxidation. The main oxidation state is 4+, although 3+ and 2+ states are also known but less stable.
