Improve the appearance of your hair. These homemade hair masks will show you how!

1. Eggs

Eggs are rich in proteins and fatty acids, making them an excellent base for hair masks for dry and damaged hair. Egg yolks in particular are full of vitamins that help boost hair shine. They contain vitamins A, D, E, and some B vitamins. Eggs can also help combat hair loss.

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg yolk

  • 1 tablespoon yogurt

  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

Mix all the ingredients together until they form a thick cream. Apply from roots to ends. Leave on for 25 minutes and then rinse your hair thoroughly.

2. Honey

Honey is already a popular ingredient in many beauty products due to its richness in vitamins and minerals. It is ideal for cleansing, firming, moisturizing, and nourishing the hair. It also helps dull hair become healthier and more vibrant.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise (or egg yolk and olive oil)

  • 1 tablespoon almond extract

Mix all the ingredients in a glass bowl. Refrigerate for one hour. Apply to your hair for 40 minutes and rinse thoroughly with plenty of water.

3. Olive Oil

Olive oil is a highly versatile ingredient for your hair. You can use it as a base for hair masks or as a hot oil treatment. It's already known for softening the skin, so you can imagine its effect on your hair.

Regular use of olive oil in hair masks is one of the best treatments for dry hair. It softens the strands and adds volume. It also helps fight dandruff, split ends, and may even help prevent hair loss.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

  • 5 drops of lavender essential oil

Mix the oils and apply them to your entire hair. Wrap your hair in a warm towel. Rinse after 30 minutes.

4. Avocado

Avocado is a natural way to nourish your body without chemicals. Avocado oil has long been used in many beauty products like cleansing creams, hair conditioners, face masks, bath oils, and massage lotions. That’s because avocados are rich in essential nutrients that soothe and moisturize your skin and hair. The oils in avocado hydrate and soften dry and brittle hair, while vitamin E helps restore its natural shine.

Ingredients:

  • 1 mashed avocado

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Apply from roots to ends. (If your hair is very oily, apply only to the ends.) After 30 minutes, rinse thoroughly.

5. Banana

Bananas aren’t just delicious—they're also great for your skin and hair. They contain high amounts of potassium, iron, and B vitamins like B6 and B12, which help soften hair and maintain its elasticity, preventing split ends and breakage.

Bananas also keep hair shiny, hydrated, and healthy. With regular use of this mask, you can improve your hair’s moisture levels and soothe any scalp itchiness.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe banana

  • 1 cup warm water

  • 1/4 cup dried chamomile

  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon honey

Mix all the ingredients together and apply to your entire hair. After 30 minutes, rinse thoroughly.
